Bridges
A bridge literally 'bridges' a gap between two
teeth, where teeth are missing. The replacement false
tooth or teeth are held by the teeth adjacent to the
space. They are closely matched to your existing teeth.
There are various materials and designs of bridge that
we would obviously discuss in detail with you, and would
be tailored to your individual needs.
Crowns
Crowns can be made from porcelain or metal only but
normally have a strong metal substructure, with tooth-matching
porcelain bonded over the top.
A crown is designed to completely
cover a weakened tooth, to strengthen it and to improve
its appearance.
They can also be used to improve a
person's smile, when broken down or twisted front teeth
exist.
White fillings
White fillings are used to restore broken or decayed
teeth and can be matched to your own tooth colour
to make them almost invisible.
Root Fillings
A root-filling involves removing damaged or
dead pulp and filling the space left. The remaining tooth
can then be repaired. This allows you to keep
a tooth that would otherwise have needed to be removed,
leaving you with a tooth space.
Veneers
A Veneer is a thin layer of tooth-coloured material
placed on the front surface of a tooth to improve
its appearance. These are commonly used for smile
makeovers, much like those seen on many current television
programmes.
They are a very simple and quick way
of improving the appearance, and permanently changing
the colour of a patients smile. We provide hundreds
every year for our patients.
