I have worked at Strand Dental since qualifying from Bristol University in 1987, and am the longest serving partner at the practice. Over the years I am happy to say that I have built up a loyal list of patients that I now consider to be my friends. I particularly enjoy working with nervous and phobic patients, overcoming their fears with patience and gentle dentistry.
Sandra qualified from Guys and St Thomas’s United Medical and Dental school in 1997 being awarded many end of year distinctions, merits and prizes. She has been fortunate to practice in both New Zealand and the UK and we are delighted that she has now joined the Strand Dental team. Sandra firmly believes in a holistic approach to dentistry, combining good oral health and education with modern treatments and techniques. Aside to dentistry Sandra loves all sports and during her dental training gained the national championship award in karate. She now enjoys skiing and yoga and is an avid reader and cook. Sandra likes to treat all aspects of her life – family, hobbies and work with enthusiasm.
I qualified from University Newcastle upon Tyne in 1992 and have worked at Strand Dental since my graduation. I have gained additional qualifications, both in general dentistry and also Dental Implantology, from the Royal College of Surgeons in London. I also run Worthing Implant Centre, which is contained within Strand Dental's premises, and specialises in working with people who are no longer happy with their smile, helping them to reach an intelligent solution.
I also graduated from University Newcastle upon Tyne in 1992 and practised dentistry in Newcastle for ten years. However, a desire to work alongside like-minded, progressive colleagues saw me move with my family to the South Coast in 2003 to join the partnership at Strand Dental. I particularly enjoy using the more technical aspects of dentistry to provide my patients with the confidence that results from a beautiful smile.
I qualified in 1993 from Dundee University. Alongside my conventional dentistry, I love doing cosmetic treatments and tooth straightening - I never tire of seeing the huge difference a straighter whiter smile can make to someone! I completed a year's course in restorative dentistry at the Eastman Dental Hospital in London and in 2009 I qualified as an Invisalign 'invisible braces' practitioner. I also straighten teeth with the 6 Month Smile System. One of the most rewarding parts of my job is getting to know my patients and I enjoy helping those who are anxious to become relaxed and confident about their treatment. In 2001 I began using hypnotherapy techniques which have been very successful.
I qualified from University of London in 2006, and worked near London until 2010. I chose to move down to the South Coast 4 years ago where I have been working in a practice in Hove. Since qualifying I have also completed the certificate in restorative Dental Practice at UCL Eastman. My aim is to make dental appointments something you no longer dread, making each visit personal and taking time to listen to your concerns. I have a lot of experience with very nervous and phobic patients. I am keen to promote preventive dentistry educating everyone how to prevent dental disease. I also have experience in cosmetic dentistry, including short-term orthodontics called CFAST, to straighten your front teeth. My reward is seeing my patients smile.
I qualified from Kings College, London in 1986 and subsequently gained the postgraduate Diploma in Restorative Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons in 2009. I rejoined Strand Dental in February 2014 after running my own practice for 14 years. I am delighted to be back working alongside Ross and being part of such an inspirational team at Strand Dental.
I trained as a dentist at University College Hospital, London before undertaking a further five years of training in London and Bristol to become a Specialist Orthodontist. I have worked at both St. Richard's and Worthing Hospitals as a Consultant Orthodontist for the past 13 years where I have established a reputation for providing high quality orthodontic treatment for complex dental problems in both adults and children. I am experienced in the use of all the different types of brace, both fixed and removable, and am a credited Invisalign operator. I work closely with both dentist and hygienist to achieve the best possible result from orthodontic treatment.
Specialist Registrar in Periodontology
I qualified from the Royal London Dental Hospital Whitechapel in 2007 after which I moved to Hove to complete my vocational training. My attention quickly moved to oral surgery and I worked as a Senior House Officer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Manchester Royal Infirmary. In 2010 I moved back to Brighton and was promoted to a Staff Grade Oral Surgeon at the Royal Sussex County Hospital. Alongside working as an Oral Surgeon I have been working as a Specialist Registrar in Periodontology at Guys Dental Hospital in London since 2011. Periodontal treatment not only saves teeth but has the potential benefit of improving general health. This is particularly true in relation to cardiovascular disease, diabetes onset and control, and adverse pregnancy outcomes. My interests in periodontology are in the new and innovative treatments of gingival recession and the regeneration of periodontal ligament and bone.
